Acrolights' Anti-drug Gymnastics Programs

The Dakota Adventist Academy Acrolights are on the road taking their anti-drug gymnastics program to young and old alike. The team is comprised of 27 students from all over the world. Two members are from Korea, one from Thailand, and one from Canada. The team is coached by Christopher and Kari Morrison.

On February 1, 2010 at 10:00 AM, the music began and the Acrolights went into action. They delivered an inspiring performance for the elementary students of Christ the King Catholic School. The show consisted of acrosport gymnastics (that's where people are used instead of apparatus), skits and testimonials. The skits were about different kinds of drugs and substances that can and will harm the body. They covered everything from smoking and drinking to drugs and steroids. The skits were very entertaining and educational. Students from the team shared with the students how drugs and alcohol have had a negative impact on their individual lives. The elementary students were awed and receptive to what the Acrolights had to share with them. When asked what they had learned from the performance they yelled, "Don't take drugs!" The Acrolights were very pleased that the students understood their message and were taking it to heart.

That afternoon the Acrolights had their second show. This one was at St. Anne's Elementary School. These students were just as impressed as the first. When asked, the students also understood the message. It was a pleasure to witness these shows and see the Acrolights share their love of Jesus with others.

On February 12, 2010 the Acrolights were in Pierre, South Dakota. They had a show at a community center in Fort Pierre. This show was for elementary students as well. The highlight of the Pierre tour was the second show in a town about 28 miles north of Pierre, called Onida. This show was for approximately 170 high school students. The team was concerned that they would not be able to reach these students as well as the elementary ones. The team was rewarded with a standing ovation at the conclusion of the program. The practice times before these shows were not encouraging. The team has pledged themselves to God as His Team and they have been blessed in all of their performances. The truly amazing thing for these students is to realize that they are able to have an impact on their peers, and that it can only happen with a miracle from God.

On Saturday February 13, 2010, the Acrolights were in charge of the Sabbath School and Church services at the Pierre Church. The services consisted of music and testimony sermonettes. Students shared how God has been leading in their lives and how He has helped them overcome drugs, anger and being able to have consistent devotions to deal with the stress of school and their responsibilities. After supper and vespers, the Acrolights gave the church a performance. It was also rewarded with a standing ovation. The team would like to thank the Pierre Church for feeding them so well and to the owner of the Comfort Inn that allowed the team to stay free for three nights.

The Acrolights are back on the road. They performed and shared their message with approximately 615 individuals. To book a tour with the Acrolights please contact: Christopher Morrison, Dakota Adventist Academy, 701.258.9000.
