IRA Charitable Rollover

Posted on Oct 23, 2008

Congress is providing an excellent charitable planning opportunity for both 2008 and 2009.  An IRA owner age 70 1/2 or older is allowed to make a direct transfer to charity. The transfer may be up to $100,000 in one year and can be done in both 2008 and 2009.  If an individual is required to take a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), that distribution can be made to the Dakota Conference resulting in a simpler tax return and lower income taxes for the individual. For more information contact Charles O’Hare, Trust Services Representative, at 605.381.8451. Checks must be postmarked on or before December 31st.

Suggested donations for major projects within the Dakota Conference:

  • Cabins at Northern Lights Camp (estimate: $50,000)
  • Cabins at Flag Mountain Camp (estimate: $25,000)
  • Roof at Dakota Adventist Academy (estimate: $250,000)
  • Dorm renovations at DAA (estimate: $5,000/room)
